Research OverviewSleep HealthCenters is proud to work with some of the premier sleep researchers in the country. To take part in a study or for more information, please contact us toll free at 877-SLEEP-HC (877-753-3742) or email SleepResearch@sleephealth.com. We are actively recruiting volunteers in both the New England and Arizona regions. Clinical Research studies are done to determine the best and most effective care and to look for better treatments. Research has led to important discoveries that improve our lives such as new drugs to treat diseases, new devices to diagnose diseases and new vaccines to prevent diseases. Many patients are helped by new medicines and treatment techniques studied during clinical research trials and are often given the option to continue treatment when the trial is over. Drug therapies are carefully tested before they are approved to be tried on human subjects. Participating in research may open new avenues of therapy for the individual subject, or may help others with a similar problem in the future. Research protocols are reviewed by special boards called “Institutional Review Boards” that review every detail of a protocol, from the wording of advertisements to the possible side effects of a new medication. Subjects in a study are free to ask questions of the investigators and may withdraw from a study at any time. They are usually reimbursed for the time spent in clinical trials and there is no charge for tests administered. The federal government has set high standards to ensure research subjects are protected. Becoming a research volunteer is an important decision and the US Department of Health and Human Services has a web site www.hhs.gov/ohrp to provide more information. Please go to the Research Studies section on our website to view the current projects that are actively recruiting subjects. |
