The Sleep HealthCenter® at Beth Israel Medical Center Doubles in Size to Meet Demand for Sleep Study Services
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sleep HealthCenters, a network of sleep medicine centers and the largest provider of such services in the Northeast, has announced that it has expanded its facility located at Beth Israel Medical Center – doubling its capacity.
Paul S. Valentine, Sleep HealthCenters’ CEO and President, commented, “The expansion is in response to the growing demand for sleep-related diagnostics and treatment. Consumers and the medical community are recognizing the need for better sleep and the related connections to improved health.”
It is estimated that at least 40 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and others. Untreated sleep disorders can contribute to serious health problems such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. Sleep disorders can also affect work performance and quality of life and can be a significant risk factor in accidents.
David Shulkin, MD, President and CEO of Beth Israel Medical Center, states, "The expansion of our sleep medicine program allows us to provide essential health resources for more patients, further fulfilling our mission to provide state-of-the-art, compassionate care to the many communities we serve." Dr. Mangala Narasimhan, Medical Director of the facility, commented, "Our state-of-the-art, comprehensive sleep medicine program provides a full range of services for patients with sleep disorders. We're pleased that our increased capacity allows us to help more New York City-area residents identify and treat their sleep problems before they lead to other health issues. ”
