Summary
Coordinate and support diagnostic, treatment and follow-up services to patients with sleep disorders, as directed by sleep specialists. Develop and refine protocols, questionnaires and forms to support consistent procedures. Assist in training staff and patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct initial interviews, review sleep study results, questionnaires and other pertinent records required to support new patients referred to SHC.
- Coordinate the delivery of treatments to patients with sleep apnea, in accordance with established protocols and directions from sleep specialists.
- Provide training, in-service and follow up support to patients with sleep apnea in the use of PAP or other breathing support methods.
- Follow patients throughout their entire treatment regiments in accordance with protocols and specific guidelines. Coordinate and communicate with patients, referring physicians, SHC clinical and technical staff, insurance companies and other, as needed.
- Monitor patient satisfaction.
- Assist with training and development of new staff, medical students, physicians and patients.
- Keep rental equipment cleaned and in good working order.
- Assist with inventory management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or Nursing program.
- Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist is required.
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner or Nurse in the state of Massachusetts and RI.
- BLS certification
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- High level of clinical knowledge, communication and reasoning skills.
- Able to function appropriately and with limited supervision.
- Effective interpersonal skills with co-workers, physicians and patients.
- Basic understanding of equipment and interfaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Potential exposure to patients with communicable diseases.
- Assignments to perform duties in off-site locations.
